Oh, The Places You'll Go

  • Ireland/Scotland
Having some Irish blood in me, and because I have an obsession with Scottish accents. I mean come on, they are amazing! I want to have a beer with an old Scottish man and just have him tell me his life story.

  • Caribbean Cruise
This one is a lot closer than the rest. I have an obsession with boats, and the ocean. So it is perfect. Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica...here I come!

  • St. Louis
The Arch. The Cards. Rib festival. It's so close and I have never been.

  • Mexico
Again, closer than some of the others. Something about the idea of going to a beach in Mexico has always been appealing to me. I want to drink a daiquri out of a coco not and eat quesadillas, idk.

  • California
I feel like Cali is it's own little world. I have always wanted to go over there and see their style and lifestlye. Also, I wouldn't mind walking down the street and seeing someone famous...

  • New York City
I feel like this is another no brainer. I am not one for big cities...at all. But I think it is something I need to experience. I really want to visit the bar from How I Met Your Mother....

  • New Zealand
I mean come on, have you seen pictures of this place?! It's absolutely stunning! Possible honeymoon location?!

  • Grand Canyon
Another place I think every US citizen should visit. I want to see the wonders the Grnad Canyon has to offer. I know it will take my breath away.

  • Jamaica
Soon. So, so, so, soon! I have heard some bad things about Jamaica, but as long as I stay in the tourist-y areas, I am hoping that I will be fine. But again, I want to hear them talk!

  • Las Vegas
The Party Jess is really digging the idea of going to this city. The lights, the attractions...one day!
  • One down, 1453 To Go

I am finally marking a top item off my bucket list...to go on a cruise!

We have finally booked and we are officially cruising to the Western Caribbean on the Carnival Magic! We are leaving May 17, a week after we graduate college! I can not WAIT to be in clear, blue water; on white, dusty sand; and feel that caribbean sun on my skin. Take me now, PLEASE!

The three islands we will be docking at will be Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; and Montego Bay, Jamaica!

    Mexico

I have always wanted to go to Mexico! My dream for Mexico is that I can find a sombrero or a Mexican blanket. As of right now, we are planning on going to the Catamaran sail, snorkel, and delux beach. The beach is a bunch of inflatables in the water, like slides and trampolines, that we can play on! We are planning on having a lot of fun with that one, and to get a lot of footage on the GoPro! Another perk is that there is an unlimited bar that is included in the cost. *Cha-ching!*

    Cayman Island

Grand Cayman looks beautiful! Here, we are planning on snorkeling and swimming with stingrays!! I can't wait to hold and kiss one! And just look at that water. It's perfect! Something I want to try here is an alcoholic drink straight out of a coconut!

    Jamaica

Jamaica is another place that I have always wanted to go to. The think I am most excited about here is talking to some of the native people. I just love their accents! We aren't really planning on doing much here, as of right now. But something that I do wanna try is the jerk chicken. I hear it is really good!

  • Go on a cruise
  • Get a good job/internship after graduation
  • Go somewhere new
  • Get a puppy
  • What They Didn't Tell You About College...

    I wasn't ready for....

Losing friends- I know they always say it, but you always think that you and your friends are the closest in the world. That might be true. I still have a few friends from high school that I talk to everyday. But the people I considered my closest friends, aren't so close anymore. We might see eachother one night over Christmas break, and a few times over the summer, but they aren't the people you always hang out with anymore. And thats perfectly fine. High school is over and you went to college for a reason... to try new things and meet new people. Theres a saying that you meed your bridesmaids in college. I 100% stand by that statement. They might not all be new people, but those are the times you find who your true friends really are.

The guys- In high school I didn't date much. Not cause I couldn't get anyone, but cause I just wasn't interested. Looking back I personally am very glad I did that. But when I came to college it was a completely different ball game. It's a whole new playing field, and youre in a completely different league. Guys are everywhere, and there are so many opportunities to meet new guys. I won't lie I got a little carried away. I realized my potential and the "power" that I carried with them, and I used it to my advantage. There are some things a girl needs to experience. Spending way too much time and energy on the wrong guy is one of those experiences. I am convinced that my experience really helped too build me. There will be crummy guys....a LOT of crummy guys. You have to weed through them and stay strong and true to yourself. Don't listen to all the BS that they can dish out to you, no matter how "unofficially exclusive" you think you are at the moment. I'm not saying that no one is worth trusting, I'm just saying make sure you weed through the bad to get to the good. And there are good ones out there. A lot. And they come around at exactly the right time (and right when you have stopped looking, in my experience).

You gain the freshman 15- even if you have never struggled with your weight before, it does eventualy catch up to you. It's a part of growing up, it's fact of life. It could be a change of not eating home made food that mom makes every night. It could be all the beer you consume. It could be lack of proper sleep and excersize. And it doesn't always come freshman year. A lot of people don't get it till sophmore year or later.

    Rules
Do NOT room with your BFF. Let me repeat... Do. NOT. Room. With. Bestie. Hell yeah it sounds like a blast...having your day one there with you every night, whenever you're scared or you are having problems. Sleepovers every night. She's the bestie, what can go wrong? Everything. Absolutely everything. You find out she is a slob and leaves her dirty dishes everywhere for you to clean up. Or she leaves her dirty underwear laying right in the doorway. Or maybe you start noticing how negative and demanding she really is...No matter what it is, there is going to be something(s) that you will find that will drive you mad. And she will find something wrong with you too. And then you start being irritable towards one another and then you're fighting all the time...then she moves out and you never speak again. Life.

Studying doesn't mean sitting in the library for 8 hours every day. Studying is supposed to be done for about an hour or two everyday. Do NOT wait till the night before a final to try and cram a semester worth of information into your dead, sleep deprived, overriden brain. Do it through the semester. You are also more likely to actually learn the information that way.

Use the library. That being said, the library can be your best friend. I don't know what it is about that place, but it's like a portal that gets you through your homework so much quicker than if you do it in your room. There are very little distractions and everyone around you is doing the same thing...you dont have a roommate across the room eating chips while watching Netflix (that you somehow end up watching too..how does that always happen!?).

Join as many things as possible. There are so many events that happen on campus. It can be a sporting event, a greek life event, or a club event that is put on through the school. Whatever it is, go! This is the best way to meet people and (sometimes) get free school shirts or pizza. Go to parties, even if they aren't "your scene." You never know, you might like the atmosphere.

Befriend as many people as possible.  Talk to everyone that sits around you in your classes. Talk to the girl brushing her teeth at the sink beside you in the bathrooms. Get to know your RA. You never know who has connections or information that you can use later.

This isn't high school. No one gives two shits if you were prom queen or if you beat the track record for your division, or if you were in chorus your freshman year of high school. That was then, with those people. In college, you can be you and no one thinks twice about it. Everyone is basically friends with all types of people. You can go to class dressed in costume one random day, and everyone on campus talks about how cool you are. Grow up and get over yourself. Trust me, you will have more fun that way.

Don't wear high school attire. Unless you are lounging around your dorm room, there is no need to wear your "Seniors 2011" t-shirt around. It just highlights the fact that you are a freshman. Not that that is exactly a bad thing, but it's not a good thing either.

    Cruise Needs

With graduation quickly arriving, the guys and I have planned a celebratory get away! We are going on a cruise! And even though its so far away, (and we haven't even booked the cruise yet), I am so super excited that I really don't know what to do with myself (hence the palm tree background).
Since this kind of trip is totally new to me, I have been doing lots of research. And by that I mean I think I have researched everything and I'm now a semi-professional cruise prepper. I have looked up things from packing lists, cruise trips, excursion ideas, foods to try, how and when to tip...everything.

There are some things that I am wanting to get before we go on our trip...

    Camera
I have slightly been looking into point-and-shoot cameras to take with me, because mine is too big and I don't want to carry it around. I am really into the Samsung cameras that hook up to the wifi and you can upload pictures directly from the camera.

First, there is the wb250. This one generally runs around $150.  It has a 24 mm lense and an 18x zoom capability. It is apparently really good in low light, which I would like for the evening, and later when I go to concerts. There are different view settings, and a "smart mode" that sets automatically to get the best picture. It also has a touch screen, just like all my other devices, which I also like. There is a "best face" feature that lets you get the perfect picture every time...no more blinking faces! It got almost all five stars, according to the Samsung website.

The next camera I looked into was the wb350, a step up from the 250. This one is $260, a $100 difference from the 250. It has a more leather teature to it. The 350 has a 21x zoom feature, and a 23mm wide lense. There is a 16.3 mexapixel feature that helps you to capture the perfect image without having to use flash. There is a low light feature that takes three shots and puts them into the same picture, for best quality. The 350 also has a touch screen. This camera also got almost all 5 stars in its rating.

Lastly, there is the wb35. It has 16.2 MP and is a little smaller than the rest. It is the most simple and seems to be the most user friendly of the cameras I am looking into. It got almost all 5 stars in its rating, and it costs about $150.

    Hats

Every girl needs a fedora when she goes somewhere where its always sunny! I have found a couple cheap ones at different places, but my favorite is probably Amazon.

A Tribe Kelley hat. I mean duh, look at them! Even though they are $35, they are made in the USA and it is their personal brand. I'm gonna have to get one eventually, and I think thise cruise would be the perfect time to break it in! I can't get over how perfect their line is, and how cute they are.

    Maxis
Being an amazon woman, it is hard for me to find maxi skirts and dresses that are actually long enough for my liking. So there is some research that is to be done on these. But being on islands and on a boat, it is a must that I find one, ASAP!

I personally like the skirts with the pleats more, I like how they flow. I found this one on Amazon for $11. It has some pretty decent ratings on it, so if the length is enough to fit me, then I'm just gonna have to make that purchase!
